MULLED SAKE

December 19, 2012

A cup of mulled sake

Whether you call it Mulled Wine, Glühwein or Glögg, they are essentially all variants of a similar thing – a beverage to warm you up from the inside. With plenty more cold days ahead of us, why not try our Mulled Small Sake recipe as a tasty alternative with an Asian twist.

Ingredients

4 Cans of Small Sake Junmai
8 Cloves
2 Star Anise
4 Cinnamon Sticks
1 Whole Lemon, washed, cut in thin slices
60-80 g of Okinawan Brown Sugar or other Brown Sugar (adjust to taste)

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Gently warm the ingredients on low to medium heat (avoid boiling), for 20-25 minutes. Stir occasionally to make sure that sugar has completely dissolved. When the sake is steaming and the ingredients have been well blended it is ready to serve. Ladle the mulled sake into mugs, add a slice of lemon and a stick of cinnamon.
